AI for People is a non-profit research organization with the aim of shaping Artificial Intelligent technology around human and societal needs. ​They do this through impact analysis, projects and democratic policies that act at the crossing of Artificial Intelligence and society. It aims to do this by narrowing the gap between civil society and technical experts. They do this through impact analyses of the use of AI in specific environments, research projects and the development of policies that focused at the intersection of Artificial Intelligence and society.

Certified B Corporations are businesses that meet the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance, public transparency, and legal accountability to balance profit and purpose. ​To be granted and to maintain certification, companies must receive a minimum score from an assessment of "social and environmental performance", integrate B Corp commitments to stakeholders into company governing documents, and pay an annual fee based on annual sales. Companies must re-certify every three years to retain B Corporation status.

Disability:IN is a U.S based non-profit which provides resources for businesses to become more disability inclusive. ​Their Disability Equality Index is a a comprehensive disability inclusion benchmarking tool that helps companies build a roadmap of measurable, tangible actions that they can take to achieve disability inclusion and equality.

Diversity in Tech is a website whose aim is to help close the diversity gap in the technology sector. ​The sites provides users with career advice, case studies, job search and a network of employers looking to increase diversity within their companies.

A non-profit massive open online course (MOOC) provider in the U.S created by Harvard and MIT. It hosts online university-level courses in a wide range of disciplines to a worldwide student body, including some courses at no charge. It also conducts research into learning based on how people use its platform. ​It runs on the Open edX platform, which it developed as an open-source platform software freely available to other institutions of higher learning that want to make similar offerings.

Enrol Yourself is a UK start-up that connects and supports units of peer learners, harnessing the power of group learning to increase retention potential.​ They run a 6 month ‘Learning Marathon’ to connect c12 peers who learn and develop together by pooling their skills, creativity, perspectives and more to solve a common challenge.

Educational Quality through Innovative Partnerships (EQUIP) was a pilot program to accelerate and evaluate innovation through partnerships between colleges and universities and non-traditional providers of education in order to equip more Americans with the skills, knowledge, and training they need for the jobs of today and tomorrow.​ EQUIP falls under the Experimental Sites Initiatives, which tests the effectiveness of statutory and regulatory flexibility for postsecondary institutions that disburse federal financial aid.​

American Express have partnered with TransUnion and VantageScore to create ‘Game Plan’- a financial educational content series designed to help users understand and manage their financial health. ​Subject areas include: How to deal with financial stress, understanding credit, debt and investments, personal growth.

Only one in four computer scientists are women. Girls Who Code is a non-profit organization which aims to support and increase the number of girls in computer science and close the gender employment gap in technology. ​They equip young women with the necessary computing skills to pursue 21st century tech opportunities through volunteer led coding clubs, college networks for women, and summer immersions.

At Google 80% of all tracked trainings are run through an employee-to-employee network called “g2g” (Googler-to-Googler). This volunteer teaching network of over 7,000+ Google employees dedicate a portion of their time to helping their peers learn and grow. Microsoft are investigating ways of decomposing larger tasks into smaller microtasks that leverage the micro-moments that exist sporadically during a person’s day. ​Their goal is to provide new ways of accomplishing smaller goals that contribute towards larger productivity, instead of setting aside large chunks of uninterrupted time.

UK mental health charity Mind has developed a ‘Thriving at Work guide’ for employers to explore the six core ’Thriving at Work standards’ as set out in a mental health review commissioned by the UK government. ​Aimed at those who shape mental health policies within organizations it provides practical examples of what employers are doing across the sector to support mental health in the workplace, as well as helpful tools.

Now Teach is a charity that focuses on helping professionals and people from industry move into teaching. ​They partner with schools, universities and training providers to support “career changers” and connect them to a strong professional network. ​By supporting older people with industry experience to enter teaching, they aim to address the recruitment shortage of teachers in the UK, promote teaching innovation and cross-generational learning.​

OneTen is a coalition of leaders who are working together to cultivate economic opportunities for Black talent in America. Over the next 10 years, they aim to upskill, hire and promote one million Black individuals who do not have a four-year degree into family-sustaining careers. They will do this by bringing together employers, education and training programs and community organizations to create accessible pathways that enable career advancement.

ScreenSkills is a UK industry-led skills body for the screen industries – film, television, VFX, animation and games. They invest in building a skilled and inclusive workforce.​Their work is financed through industry and public funding. They provide career information, training, bursaries, apprenticeships, mentoring and skills forecasting.

Sherpa Score is an online assessment tool which generates a ‘Protection Score’ to identify areas that may have the biggest impact on users’ financial wellbeing over time. ​The tool provides insights and tips on steps they can take to minimise their risks, areas where they can self-insure through their savings or cancel unnecessary insurance where they are over-protected.​The score stays with the user through their life, updating as their circumstances change.

The Skills & Education Guarantee Pilot (S&E Pilot) is a debt financing initiative designed to stimulating investments in education, training and skills.​ The EUR 50 million pilot scheme will support financing for learners, enterprises investing in the upskilling of their employees, and organisations supplying education and training. It aims to mobilise EUR 200 million by providing a free-of-charge first-loss capped guarantee to financial intermediaries providing loans for training.​

Rework America Alliance has developed detailed guidance on skills-based sourcing and hiring.​ The Rework America Alliance is a U.S. collaboration to help millions of workers, regardless of formal education, move into good jobs in the digital economy by accelerating the development of an effective system of worker training aligned to jobs that employers need to fill.​

Skillsfuture is government initiative to provide all Singaporeans with the opportunities to develop their fullest potential throughout life. ​It does this through a combination of helping individuals make well-informed choices in education and careers, building an integrated high-quality and responsive system of education and training, and partnerships with business to promote career development based on skills and mastery.

This initiative aims to improve the quality, recognition and take-up of micro-credentials, bringing new opportunities to a more diverse group of learners to broaden their skillsets. ​It also aims to encourage people to move across the EU for education, training or work, to achieve a European Education Area by 2025, and involve European Universities alliances and Centres of Vocational Excellence as role models.

In January 2021 a majority of the European Parliament voted to introduce the ‘right to disconnect’. This is a worker’s right to disengage from work and work-related communications, such as emails, during non-work hours.​ There is growing support for defining minimum requirements for remote working and clarify working conditions, hours and rest periods.

The Good Jobs Institute has developed an excel-based financial model built to enable companies to project the value of implementing the Good Jobs Strategy​ - a four pronged approach to investing in people.​ Using different assumptions about the amount of improvement or uplift achievable, executives can run scenarios on the bottom-line impact of applying a good jobs system to their business.

The London Interdisciplinary School (LIS) is the first higher education provider in 40 years to start with their own degree awarding powers. Partners commit to assessing the financial vulnerabilities of their workforce and identifying ways to improve their resilience in the long term.​

Trezeo offers an app-based financial and benefits service targeted to freelancers and gig workers. ​Via a weekly subscription, the app supports members manage their finances and offers income top-ups and smoothing to balance weekly income. Different subscriptions enable members to access sickpay and health benefits normally reserved for fulltime employees.​

To improve ‘tuition assistance’ programmes (which help with the cost of continuing education in subjects related to a current position or career development) UpSkill America partnered with Pearson to develop a new tool “Tuition Assistance Policy Discussion: Roadmap to a Skilled and Educated Workforce”. ​The diagnostic tool helps organizations ensure their tuition assistance programs are accessible, coordinated, and structured to maximize their impact. ​

U-Renew is like a paid sabbatical for employees who want to change direction and to retrain or do an external course. ​Unilever will hold open their job and pay a salary, but employees sacrifice some of their benefits package, for instance, their bonus and have to contribute to their learning costs. U-Renew is planned for launch in 2022.​

U-Work gives employees the freedom and flexibility associated with contract roles but with the security and benefits typically linked to permanent roles. People in U-Work don’t have a fixed role, they work on varying assignments, and between assignments are free to do other things that are important to them. They get paid for each assignment they work on, and also receive a monthly retainer and specially designed suite of benefits whether they’re working on an assignment or not.

VentureWell fosters collaboration among top STEM talent from research labs, classrooms, and wider afield to advance innovation and entrepreneurship education. ​They do this by providing the support, training, and access to networks and resources needed to start ventures and solve complex problems in the fields of biotechnology, healthcare, sustainable energy and materials, and solutions for low-resource settings.

Verizon has partnered with tech startup Multiverse to launch an apprenticeship program aimed at providing young professionals with the skills and opportunities needed to secure a career in tech.​ Multiverse helps design and deliver apprenticeship programs that combine work, training and community.

The World Economic Forum has proposed a global skills taxonomy framework which focuses on the emerging hard and soft skills growing in relevance in fast-changing labour markets. ​They have developed an interactive version of the Skills Taxonomy to allow employers, governments, learning providers and individuals to explore the capabilities which will be required for different industries and roles.

Worker Info Exchange is a non profit organization which helps workers access and gain insight from data collected from them at work.​ For Uber drivers this includes data that can be used calculate their earnings per hour and how productively their time is utilized.​ They also carry out targeted investigations and data analyses to expose unfair algorithmic decision making, and support trade unions and grassroots worker organizations to aggregate their data. ​

Workerbird aims to improve the working conditions of the six million low-wage workers in the UK. ​The app allows users to track their working day and pay data, recommending action to be taken if they are not paid the legal minimum.

The Leadership Vanguard is a cross-sector partnership that brings together senior leaders from business, government and NGOs in an annual program to build the networks, mindset and capabilities to transform their organizations and the systems in which they are embedded.​ Leaders work with fellow participants and external partners to experience, understand and tackle 'wicked' systemic issues in novel and commercially sustainable ways, and in doing so, develop to become the kind of leaders the world needs.​
